To round off a beautiful May, Kevin from the Cwm Arian team recently headed down to The Flower Meadow for Green Thumb Day - a celebration where growing, plants, and sustainable land care took centre stage. The meadow itself was looking absolutely stunning, and we owe a huge thank you to Sara, Ellie, and the team for hosting us so generously in such an inspiring setting.
For Cwm Arian, the day was a fantastic reminder of the power of local connection. It was brilliant to meet so many new faces. The event gave us a wonderful platform to chat about everything from community energy to our deeper land-based projects.
There was a real buzz of interest around CoedUNO, a Cwm Arian project Kevin has been organising, particularly when it came to volunteering, traditional training, haymaking, and scything!

Beyond our own stall, the day offered a wonderful opportunity to connect with other inspiring projects and passionate local growers. Deeply encouraging conversations with Wildernest Care Farm, Daffodil Hill, Brynllwyd Nurseries, and Tir Felin Yn Commin highlighted a shared dedication to community service.
A particular highlight was visiting the Pretty Wild Plants stall, which offered a sensory feast of medicinal flora. It served as a beautiful reminder of the value of growing a living apothecary on the land, sparking some brilliant inspiration for new planting along our path edges at CoedUNO.

Stepping back from the busy hum of the afternoon, the event also gave us some valuable food for thought. Seeing the passion of folks connected to other local care and land initiatives made us think about how we might extend our work more widely to the broader community.
Ultimately, Green Thumb Day was a resounding success for bringing people together and raising awareness. It has left us with fresh energy, new connections, and plenty of brilliant ideas to follow up. Thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat, took home a tree, or joined our journey. Let's keep growing together.

Maintaining a stable microclimate in UK conservatories is no easy task due to seasonal weather changes. Our conservatory in Wales suffered greatly from the summer sun heating the plastic roof. We solved the temperature control issue by ordering a professional exterior plastic coating. The film effectively reflects solar heat before it penetrates the interior. This stabilized the temperature during the summer months https://www.tintfit.com/shop/conservatory-roof-plastics and significantly reduced the load on the ventilation system. The quality of the materials is excellent, and delivery across the UK is prompt. I recommend it to all conservatory owners!
