The Daniel Blackburn Memorial Fund for Youth Action
In late summer 2026, we will be launching a new, annual £5,000 grant for youth action. The fund is the legacy of our dear colleague and founding member Daniel Blackburn.

We have designed the fund to focus on supporting young people through innovative projects designed with sustainability and low environmental impact in mind. It's a focus that reflects Daniel's passion for inspiring young people with physics and renewable energy experiments.
We wanted to reflect his joyful, eccentric approach by encouraging new ways of thinking and enabling new projects to become reality, just as Cwm Arian did. We're asking for applications for the fund to revolve around one of our key themes of sustainable transport, low carbon living, renewable energy and / or ecology and the environment.

We are looking for schools, charities and youth groups whose main focus is working with young people (below 18 years old ) in North Pembrokeshire, South Ceredigion and West Carmarthenshire.
Proposed projects must fully involve the young people that will benefit from the project. Daniel was a real advocate for listening and communicating with empathy and we would like to see that young people have inspired and shaped the project and that they will be involved in its delivery.
This fund will be available annually and one grant of a maximum amount of £5000 will be awarded each year.
The fund will be launched at the start of July 2026 with applications being taken throughout September and October. Full details of the criteria and application process will be published here soon.
The first successful applicant will be announced in January 2027.
