Cosy Up With Some Winter Talks at Y Stiwdio

Updated: Nov 28

As the days grow shorter and the temperature drops, the Hwb Dysgu'r Tir team is hunkering down for the winter months, giving the land a chance to rest and recharge. While the fields take a breather, we’re out swapping thermals for the cosy indoors of Y Stiwdio and turning our focus to a series of winter talks.

Our Winter Warmer Series is all about bringing together interesting speakers and topics from the broad-spectrum of nature, gardening and farming, within a welcoming and cosy space. Keep an eye on our newsletter details on the upcoming talks—there’s plenty to look forward to! We will be delving into the topic of Mycelial Gardening with Hyphae Shroomery, learning from the film "Roots So Deep" about regenerative grazing and soil health mavericks in America with a Q&A, and Hebron Vinyard will be giving us a wine tasting and a talk on their regenerative vinyard enterprise.

Herbs for Winter Wellness with Tilly MacRae

We’re kicking things off with a real treat: Tilly MacRae, a local herbalist from Newport, Pembrokeshire, who’s here to show us how to stay healthy and resilient this winter.

Tilly is a powerhouse of herbal knowledge. Her talk will cover practical ways herbs can support us through colds, flus, coughs, and all those other pesky bugs that like to linger in the cold. She’ll highlight simple remedies you can whip up with everyday kitchen ingredients and share insights into boosting your immune system during the season.

Tilly will bring along some herbal remedies for you to taste and explore. She’ll also showcase winter wellness products available at The Natural Healthcare Centre in Newport, where she works.

Tilly blends Western Herbal Medicine (which she studied at the University of Westminster) with Ayurvedic practices (honed through an apprenticeship with Anne McIntyre), offering a rich and practical perspective on herbal health.

When: Tuesday, December 10th. Doors open at 6:45 PM for a 7:00 PM start

Cost: £5 cash donation at the door

Where: Y Stiwdio, Hermon

No need to book—just show up, grab a seat, and settle in for an evening of inspiring learning.

Discover new ways to support your health, and meet Tilly, who’s as lovely as she is knowledgeable. Whether you’re interested in making your own remedies, boosting your immunity, or just curious about the magic of herbs, you won’t want to miss this.

We can’t wait to see you there—bring a friend, a notebook and some money if you'd like to buy some of Tilly's offerings. Here’s to a season of learning and connection at Y Stiwdio with Hwb Dysgu'r Tir! Stay tuned for more Winter Warmer talks—announcements through our newsletter coming soon.
