Studio for a Community
CARE has been awarded Welsh Government, EU and Lottery funding to develop Garej y Sgwar - an old industrial plot in Hermon - to create a peaceful, publicly accessible space for creative projects.
The new building will be made from recycled and natural materials, and the project aims to incorporate low-cost energy saving and generation technology into the design, and an outdoor space to grow food.
The aim is that local people will get involved, and use their ideas and skills throughout the building of the project, and learn new skills around alternative building practices and materials.
Equipment for recording and editing audio and video will be installed in the building, and CARE hopes to work with other local community projects to teach people how to create high quality recordings to capture local histories and create recordings which help to encourage behaviour-change in use of energy and resources as well as promoting healthy sustainable lifestyles in general.
