Press Release – 16/06/07
Community Festival supports local and regional charities.
The Celtic Blue Rock Community Festival voluntary
committee has named the 2 charities that will benefit form the
2007 Celtic Blue Rock Festival donations. The regional charity
is the South Wales based Joshua Foundation that provides holidays
for children with terminal cancer. The local charity is the Steffan
Teifi Trust which is a trust to assist the son of Rhodri Jones
who was a prominent volunteer and steward with the Blue Rock festival
but who was tragically killed in October 2006.
The voluntary secretary of the festival – Cris Tomos noted,
“All those involved with staging the popular annual festival
are doing so freely and voluntary. Last year we had over 400 volunteers
helping out to make the event possibly” Cris Added “
In 2006 the festivals and friends raised over £3400 towards
Make-A-Wish foundation which funded the granting of a wish for
seriously ill child. This year we continue to support children
charities and hopefully people will give as generously as they
did last year”
The festival is dependant on voluntary stewards, local bands
that play for free on the 5 stages and also on the support of
people from across Wales in achieving the aim of the festival,
which is to provide a festival venue for young people at a reasonable
fee. The festival starts on Friday afternoon and finishes Sunday
afternoon and will admit members for FREE. The membership fee
is only £10 a year with children under 13 only £2
each. Cris Tomos noted, “This year we already have been
overwhelmed by the support shown from sponsors, volunteers and
new members wishing to join. Since launching the online ticket
service 2 weeks ago we have already reach a quarter of the online
allocation of tickets ” Cris Stressed the fact “ It
is likely that the memberships and tickets will soon all be gone
and we have to stress that it is NO TICKET NO ENTRY event so please
join quickly otherwise you will be disappointed”
People wishing to support the charities and
gain free entry can register online by visiting www.celticbluerock.org.uk

JOSHUA FOUNDATION
What is The Joshua Foundation?
The Joshua Foundation (TJF) was created in September 1998 to provide
holidays and experiences for children and their families where
the child is diagnosed with terminal cancer.
The Joshua Foundation was launched on September 27th 1998 with
a 5 kilometre fun/walk that raised £16,000, and on January
17th 1999, a huge party at Planet Hollywood, London, saw the first
gathering of children and the beginning of "TJF Experiences".
Whereas other wish organisations provide one-off experiences,
the Joshua Foundation effectively 'adopts' children and their
families providing them with on-going experiences and memories.
Who is Joshua?
The charity takes its name from Joshua Cornelius, from Caerphilly,
South Wales, who was diagnosed with Desmoplastic Round Cell Tumour
of the abdomen, a terminal cancer, in December 1996 and who died
on December 4th 1998, aged 7. After his diagnosis, Joshua, had
to undergo intensive and aggressive chemotherapy. To offset this
in his 23 months of treatment, he travelled the world - California,
New York, Florida, Lapland, Israel and 4 trips to Euro Disney
- living life to the full. An experience the Joshua Foundation
endeavours to repeat for others. You can find out more about Joshua

STEFFAN TEIFI TRUST
(Son of RHODRI JONES – Hermon, North Pembrokeshire)
Cardigan and Teifi Valley Round Table 707 - October 2006
It is with much regret to announce the untimely death of Immediate
Past Chairman of Cardigan & Teifi Valley Round Table - Rhodri
Jones aged 34 who was tragically killed having been knocked down
by a car on his way home one evening. “Rhodders” as
he was known had been an integral part of Cardigan And Teifi Valley
Round Table, not only as a fellow member but also as a true ambassador
during his year in the Chair. His willingness, desire and kindness
was warming to all that met him. He was also ever popular during
Table and Area visits as a true and passionate Welshman when his
voice would break into song during the early hours “O, Danny
Boy” being a favourite. Indeed he revelled in tabling activities
in Ireland a country he thought so much of.
Rhodri’s legacy is that he was a most personable, yet gentle
young man who made a great impact on the people around him. He
will be a profound loss to us all at a time when society needs
more people of his quality, those who give of their own time for
the greater good of others.
He will be fondly remembered by all who come into contact with
him. He will be sadly missed by his fellow members and we would
like to extend our deepest heartfelt sympathy to his loving wife
Glenda and young son Steffan Teifi who was 1 year old last Boxing
Day.
